Photography Product Review – Case Air & Extension Bar by Tether Tools

CASE AIR REVIEW 4.5 / 5 Stars

Tether Tools Case Air allows me to photograph, view and delete images from my SD card in my D3100 using their Case Remote App, all wirelessly via WIFI. Here is a product video by Tether Tools that shows it in action.

I shoot using a Nikon D3100, which is a model that LIVE VIEW is not compatible*. Tether Tools have a list of compatible cameras on their site for Live View and other features the Case Air offers. I did not use this compatibility issue between the Case Air and my camera for my rating and reviews since it is an older camera.

With that said, I had an issue connecting the WIFI between my iPhone 7 running iOS 10.2 and the Case Air including updating its firmware via Case Remote app. I ended up connecting it to my MacBook Pro running macOS Sierra and was able to SUCCESSFULLY update the firmware through the app. From there, I was able to successfully connect to my iPhone seamlessly.

The on-board flash is blocked by it but the separate Tether Tools 8″ Rock Solid Accessory Extension Bar can resolves that issue. (I reviewed it below.)

I have not fully explored all its features yet but I am excited to RECOMMEND the Case Air. I may be revisiting later on once I fully grasp using the Case Air then updating this review accordingly.

*Note: Their customer service is responsive via email for when I asked about camera compatibility.

8″ ROCK SOLID ACCESSORY EXTENSION BAR REVIEW 3.5 / 5 Stars

The extension bar was not compatible with holding my external flash or wireless flash transmitted. Those 2 hot shoe mounted devices otherwise would fit on my Nikon D3100.

I decided to keep it only because it raised the Case Air high enough to unblock the onboard flash from opening
